in which some stimulus, be it an object or some situation, causes fear, anxiety or discomfort high enough to interfere with normal functioning. By normal functioning we can understand those activities of daily life such as social interaction, job performance, decreased cognitive abilities, etc.    The process of developing a phobia can be through <strong>one&#8217;s own experience or vicariously<\/strong>, that is, through observation in other people.
